Incorporate Your Dog in Your New Years Resolutions

This post is presented by Beneful.

Committing to a New Year’s Resolution can be challenging. This year, shake things up by making a resolution that includes your dog. After all, a dog is truly a person’s best friend, and it’s essential to honor that bond!

Curious about how to include your dog in a resolution? Here are some ideas to inspire you.

Explore New Activities – Is your pup a fan of the great outdoors? Why not try hiking more often? Does he thrive in water? Consider taking up kayaking, a fantastic activity that water-loving dogs typically enjoy. The options are plentiful, and you can even check Meetup.com for local groups that engage in fun activities with their pets!

Improve Dental Care – When was the last time your dentist asked you about your flossing habits? I’m sure you responded affirmatively— but did you mean it? Good oral health is essential for both humans and their furry friends. Pledge to floss more regularly, and make a commitment to brush your dog’s teeth daily! This can also help reduce their bad breath!

Get Active – A popular New Year’s resolution is to enhance physical activity—though it’s often one of the most commonly broken goals. If this is your aim for the new year, don’t forget to include your dog! For instance, resolve to walk your dog for a mile five times a week!

Adopt Healthier Eating Habits – We all know how to eat healthier—less processed food, more whole foods. Focus on fruits and veggies rather than chips and candy. If you’re aiming for a healthier diet this year, make sure your dog follows suit as well. Check the ingredient list on pet food and opt for something nutritious and budget-friendly. I recommend the new Beneful recipes featuring real meat, like beef or chicken as the primary ingredient, and free from added sugar.

Whenever possible, we take our dog along. He’s getting older, but he loves to dig, run, and explore. He enjoys visiting the countryside where we let him roam freely at a friend’s home. I walk him often; he is my favorite walking companion. It’s second nature to include him in our outings.

I can see how having a dog could be an excellent incentive to stay active. They significantly contribute to our emotional well-being too!
