Kansas City sports enthusiasts are dedicated fans of the KC Royals. Approaching the ballpark, one can sense the vibrant energy and excitement in the atmosphere. Although the lines were lengthy and the sun blazing, everyone we encountered was upbeat and eager for the night’s events.

The game on September 3, 2016, stood out as it celebrated Bacon Day at the K, an event supported by Farmland Foods.
What does that entail?

Bacon-themed fun events were abundant as soon as we entered. Upon arrival, we received Let’s Go Royals rally signs adorned with bacon themes to cheer on our team during the game.

Delicious samples of bacon were available for anyone interested (and who wouldn’t be?). I was particularly fond of the t-shirts representing Team Chewy and my favorite, Team Crispy.

Our beloved mascot, Sluggerrr, was even portrayed in bacon, offering fans a chance to take fun photos at the Sizzle & Snap photo booth.

The highlight for our group, however, was receiving the Salvy Perez bobblehead, a beloved keepsake for many fans.

After we took our seats, we explored the various activities available. The children enjoyed guessing how many bacon strips made up Sluggerrr for a chance to win a year’s worth of free bacon!

They also had the opportunity to meet Mike Sweeney, a five-time All-Star and the 26th member inducted into the Royals Hall of Fame.

Personally, I found the Royals Charities 50/50 Raffle to be the most exciting aspect of the evening.
Why? Because the grand prize included a year’s supply of Farmland bacon, while the other half of the proceeds benefited local organization Harvesters – The Community Food Network. Farmland generously matched the total by contributing up to 25,000 pounds of protein to the food bank.
Farmland not only produces top-notch bacon but also positively impacts our community. We enjoyed a fantastic evening, and as a result, the local food bank received a substantial donation of protein for families in need. The night could not have ended on a better note.

What an awesome experience! Few things in life are better than baseball, but bacon comes close.
