Impact of Target Pharmacys Transition to CVS on Me

Disclosure: This article is sponsored by CVS Pharmacy.

Change isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, and I get that. For a long time, I enjoyed picking up my prescriptions at Target Pharmacy during my weekly grocery runs. When I first noticed the CVS branding, I feared having to fill out a mountain of new patient forms. However, I’m pleased to say that my experience remained seamless—no paperwork was required on my part! The only transformation was the addition of CVS’s fantastic services.

All CVS locations now have access to my prescription information and patient records, allowing me to pick up my meds at any CVS pharmacy, just like I did at Target. With over 9,600 CVS Pharmacy branches, including around 1,600 within Target stores, getting my prescriptions is now incredibly convenient.

Although the Target Pharmacy Rewards program has been discontinued, I am now eligible for ExtraCare Pharmacy & Health Rewards. This new program allows me to earn ExtraBucks (essentially free cash) and receive ExtraSavings in the form of actual coupons. As an ExtraCare member, I can accumulate rewards on a wide variety of purchases—from household essentials and beauty products to gifts for loved ones and health items.

All I have to do is scan my card at the ExtraCare Coupon Center before I start shopping to unlock exclusive promotions, view available coupons, and see any ExtraBucks Rewards I’m eligible for.

Additional Perks Include:

  • myWeekly Ad, a custom digital flyer that displays all my ExtraCare deals in one spot, enabling personalized shopping lists and tailored weekly offers.
  • The ExtraCare Beauty Club, which grants members $5 in ExtraBucks Rewards for every $50 spent on beauty products, as well as special promotions, beauty tips, and a $3 reward on their birthdays.
  • The opt-in ExtraCare Pharmacy & Health Rewards program, which rewards participants with $5 ExtraBucks for every 10 prescriptions filled. Members can also earn rewards for healthy activities, such as getting vaccinations or opting for email refill reminders.
  • Access to rewards and savings through CVS.com and the free CVS Pharmacy mobile and tablet applications, as well as via email.
  • Digital redemption of ExtraSavings and ExtraBucks Rewards, allowing for a coupon-free experience by receiving quarterly rewards and offers straight to my ExtraCare card via email or CVS.com.

Embrace the change; this change is beneficial!
